Nowadays, is hard to take time to do housework. You tell yourself “I’ll do it tomorrow.” Tomorrow probably won’t work for you either. A week goes by, and you haven’t done any of your housework. Floors appear dusty, and a pile of clothes look like a mountain surrounded by clouds. You could probably use some tips for a more efficient washing routine, correct? Well, we have you covered.
Here are 5 tips to make you a laundry professional!
- Create a system for the laundry basket
To sort your laundry, it is best to purchase a couple of laundry baskets. One for whites, one for dark ones, and one for pastels. With this system, you classify it in colours. You can also sort by type of clothing. Fill each basket with pants, sweaters, socks, etc. After washing and drying, you will have your clean clothes in order, ready to be folded and stored.
Do you live alone? So it is more efficient not to order at all. You probably won’t be able to fill each basket/load with your clothes. Just wash everything together! Wash new clothes (especially dark ones) separately to prevent colour bleeding in the future.
- Apply the gold wash rule
Do you have to get down on your hands and knees, looking for socks and picking up shirts in the bedrooms before each wash? Give each child their own laundry basket, and maybe even their husband (or wife!). Introduce the rule of gold washing: only the clothes that are in the baskets are washed!
- Clean your washing machine
The washing machine itself needs to be cleaned from time to time. Doing this is good for the machine´s durability but also for consistently flawless wash loads. Vinegar is an excellent cleaning solution for your washing machine. We have an article about, click here
- Una toalla en la secadora
You waited too long to wash a pair of pants that you want to wear right now. But you’re stuck waiting for the drying cycle to finish. Sounds familiar? Add a soft, dry towel to the drying load. Your clothes will dry much faster!
- Use your dryer as an iron
Hate ironing? Stupid question. Of course, yes. Add your clothes to the dryer for 10 minutes, take them out and hang up hot, wet pants or T-shirts to air dry. You won’t need to iron them anymore! Sadly, this trick doesn’t work for button-down shirts.
